Life on the Aylesbury Estate

February 6, 2019

There was a moment after the Grenfell fire when it seemed as if social housing tenants might start to be listened to. Yet just across London residents housed on the Aylesbury Estate say they are regularly left with no hot water or heating. They talk of mice infestations and some have problems with damp and mould.

In this episode we speak to two women who live on the estate with their children and say that the council's response to their complaints has not been good enough.

Living in a car

December 11, 2018

With soaring private rents and a chronic shortage of social housing, more and more people are finding themselves facing homelessness. Not all of those people are visible. Some are sleeping in tents, some are staying on a friend's sofa and some are even living in their cars.

This episode tells the story of a couple whose lives fell apart when their house was repossessed earlier this year.
